Art After Dark - Spring Benefit 2008

Silvermine Guild Arts Center was the happening arts scene on Friday night, April 25th for its sold out spring fundraiser, “Art After Dark.”  As guests walked through the blue lit Sculpture Gardens into the Galleries, they found themselves transported to a nightclub one would find in SOHO or Chelsea.  Co-chairs Ashley Andrews, a Silvermine Guild Artist member and member of the Board of Trustees, and Kathryn Hopper, a Silvermine School of Art student and supporter of SGAC, put together an evening of fun, food and party!

Throughout the evening, guests danced to the music of the Cal James Orchestra, shared cocktails and concepts with the artists, and took part in the silent auctions featuring works by Silvermine Guild Artist members in addition to golf outings, sailing on the Long Island Sound, clay shooting and a weekend in Manhattan.  Auctioneer David Dunlop, Silvermine Guild Artist member and faculty member of the School of Art, brought high energy to the live auction which showcased original art work by various Guild Artist members.  The evening’s event raised over $110,000 with the proceeds benefiting the Silvermine Guild Arts Center’s non-profit programs that include gallery exhibitions, scholarships for the School of Art, concerts, and Art Partners, a community outreach program.

Sponsorship for this fundraising event honoring D.J. Carey, Editor in Chief, Connecticut Cottages & Gardens, and Roger Williams, SGAC Board of Trustees members (and recent co-chair), was courtesy of Gold Sponsors Bank of America, Francos Wine Merchants, and Karl Chevrolet; Silver Sponsors Bank of New Canaan, Hutchinson Tree Care Specialists, Impala Asset Management, Rockwell Art & Framing, and Rowayton Wine Shop; and media sponsor Connecticut Cottages & Gardens.
