David Ferreira is an award winning artist and educator. He holds a BFA in illustration from Montserrat College of Art and a MFA from Western Connecticut State University. David has produced works for clients covering the corporate world, book publishers, comics and ad agencies. Some of David’s clients include Purina, Hasbro, ESPN, Sam Adams Brewing Co., Bacardi USA EMCParadigm Publishing and The New Haven Advocate. David has received awards for excellence in editorial illustration from The New Hampshire Press Association for his work in The New Hampshire Telegraph and a W3 Award presented for excellence in creative content for San Pellegrino Water’s web site, The Sparkling Life. Along with producing art, David has a diverse history of teaching it. Colleges and art organizations that have recognized his talents are Frostberg State University in MD, Guilford Art Center in Guildford, CT and Kenté Cultural Center in New London, CT. At Kenté, where David acted as Director of an innovative afterschool program titled “Business of Art.” This program was designed to expose high school students to the possibilities of a career in the creative world. With Business of Art students were given the opportunity to make, market, exhibit and sell their own artwork in the Kenté gallery. David continues to build a career as an illustrator, teacher and fine artist—drawing inspiration from the Old Masters of the Renaissance, comic books, Samurai films and pop culture. David is currently working on several personal and professional projects and is an Assistant Professor of Illustration and Drawing at Montserrat College of Art, where he teaches comics & sequential art, Illustration and figurative anatomy. David also regularly teaches a course in Media & Methods at Western Connecticut State University.
