Rachel Morris

EducationRachel holds a BA in Theater Arts with an emphasis in design from Drew University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Monmouth University. She has studied a wide array of jewelry arts from instructors such as John Cogswell, Joanne Conant, Raychel Wengenroth, Joy Raskin, and Annemarie Ciuffini. ExperienceRachel’s family moved frequently when she was young, but a constant for her remained her art classes. When she moved to Norman, Oklahoma, she found the Firehouse Art Center and her world opened up. FAC’s programs included ceramics, printmaking, and fiber arts, but it was the enameling and metalsmithing that captured her attention. She credits her skilled instructors’ patience with a then-10 year old as having bolstered a strong creative streak. By the 3rd grade, she’d begun a business she would eventually name a youthfully inspired "Uniquorn Crafts," making enameled jewelry and beads. From then on, she would collect beautiful stones and bits of metal for eventual use.Years later, having wandered away from the craft for a time to study theater, she lucked upon Annemarie Ciuffini teaching at Brookfield Craft Center, in Brookfield, CT. Annemarie’s enthusiasm and ability to encourage her students' freedom to design as they chose revived Rachel’s interest. When Annemarie moved on to other ventures, Rachel took up the mantle of studio manager and began teaching BCC’s foundation classes. Through her own love of learning and due in great part to the array of projects her students want to attempt, Rachel constantly strives to master new techniques and designs. Her jewelry is sold under the auspices of Eclectic Nature Jewelry & Design.TeachingRachel was the Jewelry Studio Manager and a Faculty Member at Brookfield Craft Center until its closure in 2013. She teaches introductory and intermediate jewelry making classes with an emphasis in fabrication and wax work, and is available for private lessons on a limited basis.Web Siteshttp://EclecticNatureJewelry.com
