Focus on Abstraction is an opportunity for artists engaged in their practice and developing a body of work to paint in a supportive environment and receive consistent guidance and informed feedback on their paintings. Each Wednesday you will have individualized conversations with the instructor focused on getting your work to the next level.
These discussions may reveal goals and insights regarding formal issues as well as content and may uncover new directions, strategies and ways of refreshing and re-envisioning your work. I aim to strike a balance between non-judgmental and rigorous; my primary goal is to help you find YOUR voice and develop your own criteria for evaluation and decision-making in your work. This inclusive and open-ended class is driven by the interests of those attending and welcomes all points of view. There is a “focus on abstraction” but artists working in a representational style are welcome. Professional practice topics are discussed on a regular basis including but not limited to artists statements, website and social media presence, current art world issues and events.
