Second Annual ArtsFest
September 15, 2012
Silvermine Arts Center hosted their
second annual ArtsFest on Saturday, September 15th. Over 400 people of all ages enjoyed a
fun-filled time of music, puppet shows, and hands-on art activities on a
picture perfect afternoon at this free outdoor event.
Last year, Silvermine inaugurated
its new Sculpture Walk with this very successful family day of fun and
activities. The exciting tradition
continued this year, exceeding all expectations, featuring the music of Howard Fishman and the Biting Fish Brass Band
and the puppetry of WonderSpark Puppets. In addition to the entertainment, there were
a multitude of hands-on activities and demonstrations led by the Silvermine
School of Art faculty.
Other happenings of the day included a variety of hands-on activities for children and adults led by the distinguished faculty of the School of Art, as well as artists demonstrations. The creative side certainly came out as folks participated in, and become a part of, the creative process through Pottery Exploration, Plein Air Painting, Portrait Drawing, Printmaking, Making Waves with Watercolors, and Fusion Felting. Everyone, from toddlers to adults, got into creating one-of-a-kind monsters from natural and recycled materials at the Open Air Installation area.
This wonderful, free community event will be back next year in August!
