In celebration of Pride month, Silvermine presents QUEERwerks-

an  international exhibition that reflects the wide range of LGBTQIA+ artistic expression.

 

Curated by Stamatina Gregory. They have taught art history, critical theory, and writing at the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, Parsons/The New School, the School of Visual Arts, and Sotheby’s Institute, and have organized exhibitions for institutions including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, the Santa Monica Museum of Art/ICA LA, The Cooper Union, Austrian Cultural Forum, and the 55th Venice Biennale. They are the Head Curator and Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, NYC.

Exhibition

74th A•ONE –is a juried a competition/exhibition highlighting the diversity of work currently being made by established and emerging artists.
Eligibility – Open to all artists, 18 years of age and older. Original artwork in any media will be considered. Giclée reproductions of original works will not be accepted. Eligible artwork must have been completed after January 1, 2021, and fall within the restrictions.
Entry Fee – $50 for up to 5 entries.

Restrictions

Accepted Artwork – No artwork substitutions are allowed. No accepted entry may be withdrawn prior to the close of the exhibition.
Wall-hung Works – May not exceed 96” in height or width, including frames. All work must be ready for hanging. Work on paper can be installed with magnets. Stretched/works on panel need not be framed. NO sawtoothhangers. Shipped work requiring glazing must use plexiglass.
Sculptures – Should not exceed 8’h x 4’w x 4’d including base. Gallery has standard size pedestals.
Installations – Installations may not stipulate altering the character of the gallery wall or floor. Artists with special installation requirements should be available to assist in the installation of their work.
Shipping– Silvermine Galleries recommends using a commercially manufactured artist's/strong box such as a StrongBox™ by Airfloat Systems, or similar brand, like Masterpak or Uline, or a FedEx Premium Art Box. Proper packaging is imperative to protect your work. Improper packaging may result in damaged, returned or unopened shipments. Strong boxes will be returned to the artists at the conclusion of the show at the artist's expense. Paid return shipping labels must be included. NO Styrofoam PEANUTS

Sales & Liability Insurance

All artwork must be for sale. A standard commission of 50% will be retained on all sales. The gallery reserves the right to negotiate up to 10% discount to secure sale of a piece. Commissions will then be based on discounted price. Price of work may not be changed after it is submitted. Silvermine Arts Center will insure all accepted work to 50% of artist’s stated retail price while in our possession. Artwork will be handled with all possible care. Work that is not picked up by July 19, 2024 is no longer insured and is left at the artist’s own risk.

Awards

Grand Prize awards an artist a solo exhibition at Silvermine Arts Center with a $1,000 stipend for exhibit-related expenses. The juror has additional awards to give at their discretion, including the $500 Carole Eisner Sculpture Award, the $500 Mollie & Albert Jacobson Sculpture Award, and the $500 Patricia Warfield Jinishian Figurative Award.
