Artist Statement
I would like to quote the poet, Philip Larkin, who in his succinct manner aptly describes all I could hope for in my own creative endeavours; swap out painting for poem, and reading for viewing;
“I think that a poem should be understood at first reading, line by line, but I don’t think it should be exhausted at first reading. I hope that what I write gives the reader something when they first read it, in fact enough to make them read it again”.
