SILVERMINE ARTS CENTER WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY, MAY 29, IN OBSERVANCE OF MEMORAL DAY

Art and Poetry by Students from the Norwalk Housing Authority

Artist Reception in the Silvermine Student Gallery: Monday, June 12, 4:30-5:30pm

“Up, Up and Away” is a collaborative project between Silvermine Arts Center’s Art Partners program and the Norwalk Housing Authority. 26 first through fifth graders gathered weekly from their Norwalk Housing Learning Centers to share ideas, write poetry and create art.  The children’s enthusiasm was infectious as they embraced the process of creative discovery to share their hopes and dreams through haiku and mixed media imagery. These poems and artworks will be on exhibit at Silvermine’s Student Gallery as well as being published.

The publication of this book honors the positive outlook of the NHA Learning Center youth whose futures are bright with possibilities and wonder. We value and cherish these amazing children, who confidently share their ambitions, optimism, and radiant expressions with the world in “Up, Up and Away”.

Silvermine Student Gallery hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
