From the 75th A•ONE exhibition at Silvermine: Carolanna Parlatto, Steller’s Jay II; Adi Oren, Ripple; Robyn W. Fairclough, Dances with the Sea.
NEW CANAAN, CT, Sept. 4, 2025—The 75th A•ONE at Silvermine Galleries celebrates a wide spectrum of forms and ideas as well as stunning innovation in composition and materials. From its beginnings as a regional showcase, A•ONE, Silvermine’s signature exhibition, has expanded its reach to artists throughout the U.S. and the world. This year’s selections, chosen by juror Eleanor de Ropp Flatow of the Hollis Taggart Gallery in New York City, offer, in her words, “a broad yet deeply interconnected dialogue between abstraction and figuration” and “a window into the creative pulse of the moment.” Silvermine Galleries will host an opening reception—free and open to the public—on Sat., Sept. 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The exhibition runs from Sept. 2 through Oct. 23.
The 75th A•ONE is an uplifting exhibition—surprising, thought-provoking, and joyful at every turn. Robyn W. Fairclough of Concord, New Hampshire, received the Board Chairs Grand Prize Award for her nuanced figural compositions. Flatow writes, “her work blurs the boundary of abstraction and figuration by situating her figures against color planes that render dynamic and psychologically charged terrains that appear to be anchored in no specific place or time.”
Visitors will discover refreshing takes on traditional disciplines and materials. Sculptural wall reliefs by Eoin Burke (Patricia Warfield Jinishian Figurative Award) and Michael Wolf (Carol Eisner Sculpture Award) and ceramic pieces by Donna Namnoum, Tini Pinto and others inspire with their lyric interpretations of architectural, figurative, or natural forms. Stephanie Lanter, winner of the Mollie and Albert Jacobson Sculpture Award, navigates delicacy and rigor in complex ceramic sculptures that begin with the forms and elasticity of language. Mielle Park’s large textured “psychological landscape” in beads, fabric, thread and glitter, is a powerful, sparkling presence—intricate and oceanic.
The following artists garnered honorable mentions for their bodies of work: Noa Charuvi, whose paintings transform industrial architectural spaces into dream-like, light-filled interiors; Leslie Giuliani, whose gilded, hand-made frames become part of the composition with her textile and digital embroidery works; Adi Oren, whose transcendent paintings explore gesture and landscape; and Carolanna Parlato, whose wildly colorful abstract elements evoke natural forms and bring a sense of movement and space.
Eleanor de Ropp Flatow, juror for the 75th A•ONE, is the Director of Sales at Hollis Taggart in New York City, a distinguished art gallery dedicated to presenting museum-quality works from both the primary and secondary markets. She is also a partner in Hollis Taggart Downtown, a new contemporary gallery on the Lower East Side, expanding the gallery’s presence and commitment to emerging and mid-career artists. Prior to joining Hollis Taggart in 2019, Eleanor worked as an independent curator and art advisor, organizing and judging contemporary exhibitions throughout Fairfield County and New York City. She previously served as Co-Executive Director of the Carriage Barn Arts Center, a nonprofit arts organization in New Canaan, CT, where she played a key role in advancing its mission and programming. She remains dedicated to fostering artistic excellence in the art world.
A•ONE, which began in 1949, is Silvermine’s signature exhibition, known equally for compelling works of art and for the luminaries who have served as jurors. Throughout its history, A•ONE has featured the work of many prominent artists including Louise Nevelson, Elaine de Kooning, and Milton Avery, and jurors have included major critics, curators, and directors from influential art institutions.
